Gujarati - Telugu Wedding - The Imperia - Somerset - Kumpal & Ravindra

We met Kumpal & Ravindra almost one year prior to their wedding date. They came up with some creative ideas about their Telugu & Gujarati indian wedding photography. We are proud to share their amazing story in their own words.

As we are sharing their story, we have created beautiful galleries of their Pictures and Videos.

From Kumpal: Love is friendship on fire

For us, it wasn't really love at first sight. I mean, I saw him around school but I didn't reeeeeally notice him until the end of sophomore year. I didn't even invite him to my Sweet 16!!! (and he never lets me forget it)

Ravindra and I started talking online after school one day, and it kind of took off from there. We started to get to know each other through a mutual love for comedy movies and the need to procrastinate homework by chatting for hours. With time he became one of my best friends. We talked in school, after school, before bed...all day!

It wasn't until college when I started to realize that there was more to our friendship. I started to see Ravindra as more than just a friend to chitchat with. I noticed more how kind-hearted, humble, and caring he was. I started to seek his opinion on my life choices because what he thought and felt really mattered to me. I found myself doing anything it took to make him laugh because when he laughed at something I said it made my heart swell. I began to see more how warm and genuine his smile was. Somewhere between the laughter and friendship, I had fallen in love with him.

As a diehard Bollywood fan, I spent my teenage years thinking love stories are so cut and dry, boy meets girl, they fall in love instantly, cue romantic singing in a meadow, and bam they live happily ever after. Though this wasn't the case for us (well maybe I can convince Rav to sing in a meadow but let's see), I couldn't have asked for anything better. On our first Valentine's Day together, Ravindra and I went to NYC and were roaming through some shops near Times Square. We saw this wooden plaque that read "Love is friendship on fire", and I have never read more appropriate words for what we have.

From Ravindra - Not another love story

Our love was not at first sight; in fact, it wasn't even close. Kumpal and I had known each other for over a year before we had a proper conversation. A random event sparked a simple conversation and for the first time we found out a bit about each other. Slowly, over the next three years, she became my best friend. It took time and patience. Like with any friendship, we had our highs and we had our lows.

Somewhere along that journey we fell in love. Even to this day, I can't think of the first time I realized that I found my soulmate. There was no "aha" moment; there were just two high school kids who laughed at dumb insiders and spent hours talking every day. Even as we graduated high school and went to different colleges, we found our way back to each other.

Somewhere in that time, we decided to take the plunge into the realm of relationships. We celebrate an anniversary to have "our date," but honestly, we fell in love long before. Through the years, we grew individually and together. I had my best friend by my side through the confusing time that is high school and college. I am not certain about when we became friends or when I fell in love with my soulmate, but I am absolutely certain that who I am today is because of her. I can't ask for a better friend.
